honor in action
No matter the branch or past missions, all veterans have persevered through extraordinary adversity while serving our country and protecting our freedom. Why, then, must any of them now endure waiting for support? This question is what drives Connecting Georgia Veterans to provide accelerated solutions to struggling veterans throughout the state.
Established in Cobb County, CGV works to connect veterans with the help they need and have earned. We do this by eliminating the delays and red tape they often face after discharge. But we don’t do it alone.
From our donors, community partners, and everyday citizens, we assemble and coordinate numerous resources for veterans to build stable, fulfilling lives. Because their service should never be forgotten or taken for granted.

VETERAN STORIES
While driving to Atlanta for a new job, 55-year-old Navy veteran Alex* learned his offer had been rescinded. This led to him living in his car with little hope. CGV helped to quickly place John in emergency housing and worked with MUST Ministries to secure long-term housing with wraparound services. Along with his own personal motivation, this stability allowed John to re-focus on finding work. We are proud to share that he now has a full-time position with Ashley Furniture and is set up for success.
From His Car to the Showroom
Referred through the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Coalition, 35-year-old Army veteran John* had been a victim of a lease scam and evicted from his home. After some time living in his car and motels, he came to CGV for assistance. Thanks to a donation from the Frances Hollis Brain Foundation Fund, we helped John secure immediate lodging which qualified under SSVF terms and conditions. John’s personal initiative throughout the process was a shining example of taking action while receiving additional support.
A Victim No More
When 61-year-old Army veteran Lee* came to CGV, he no longer had a place to live and was suffering from a variety of significant mental health struggles, including the possibility of self-harm. After connecting him with immediate lodging, we helped him secure a better-paying job and then worked with MUST Ministries to find permanent housing with additional mental health services. Today Lee is on the path to self-sufficiency and grateful to the Bob Woodruff Foundation for helping make it all possible.
